Our Farm. Our family farm is nestled on the verdant slopes of Hualalai Volcano on Hawai’i Island. Located on the historic Kona Coffee Belt where Kona coffee first began, this section of the curving Mamalahoa Highway is marked with signs designating the ‘Historic Kona Coffee Corridor.’ A part of this history is the grove of 'Old Hawaiian' Kona coffee trees - some dating to about 100 years old - that we cherish along with the trees we planted.
Overlooking downtown Kona and the sea beyond - it truly is a magical place!
Our Name. We love our farm and coffee so much that we named them after our daughter, Arianna! 'Ono, Hawaiian for "delicious", truly describes the cup you will savor!
We are also home to The Naked Bean® and Naked Bean Coffee Company® for part of our special crop.
From Farm to Cup®. Everything you taste in the cup begins at the farm and our 100% Kona Coffee has exceptional care at every step. Most of our coffee trees began life in our farm’s nursery, thriving now in rich volcanic soil that creates the best in the bean. Hawaiian sunshine, tropical showers and gentle ocean breezes nurture the trees. Hand-picking the bright red coffee 'cherry' begins in summer. The next step takes the freshly picked beans to mill, which removes the outer red skin, revealing the ‘parchment’ layer below. The beans are dried to peak perfection, taking moisture measurements until ready! The beans rest in our climate-controlled storage. When the next batch is needed for roasting or shipping ‘green’ coffee, the protective ‘parchment’ layer is removed by expert dry milling.

Arianna Farms 'Ono Kona Coffee®
OUR SHOP. Our 100% Kona coffee is the bean, the whole bean, and nothing but the bean!
Our Peaberry: When one bean forms inside the coffee cherry, it is smaller and shaped like a tiny football!
'Ono Kona Coffee® with colorful island label
Our 'Flat Bean': When two beans form facing each other in the cherry, the classic coffee bean shape is born!
The Naked Bean® with our big bean label
OUR ROAST. Based on customer and professional cupper feedback, we selected a 'touch above medium' to enhance the characteristic, rich notes of dark cocoa, citrus and sweet berry. Many find the peaberry cup to be brighter with more intense flavors - try for yourself and see!
OUR TREES. When we found the ‘Old Hawaiian' Kona coffee trees on the land, we were told they wouldn't produce coffee and to remove them. Of course, we kept them - we love trees! We honor these 'grandparent' trees and their legacy so that people can walk among them and learn about Kona coffee history. Adapting to the unique environment of the Kona region over many years, this early Guatamalan Typica - the varietal which put Kona Coffee on the map - is now called Kona Typica. The trees we planted include a majority of Kona Typica, along with special varietals that add extra depth and complexity to the cup!
The sun is essential to everything - nourishing the coffee trees (and all of life!), warming coffee when hand-raked on the drying deck and storing energy through solar panels on our coffee mill - and, of course, creating those iconic Hawaiian sunsets and rainbows!
At Arianna Farms 'Ono Kona Coffee, sustainability is about the environment and more... maintaining lifelong relationships with friends in all sectors of the coffee industry. The health of the land, and all of us who live and work on it, are part of the same 'whole.'
"You must be a link so a chain can be created."
Our daughter's plan - planting native Hawaiian trees to link to higher elevations where native Hawaiian birds dwell, and for all birds to enjoy! Her Native Hawaiian Plant Restoration Program began in 2007.
Hawaiian sunshine, tropical showers and gentle ocean breezes nurture the coffee trees, native Hawaiian trees and shrubs, grasses and natural landscape. What better way to give the trees a drink than to have huge water tanks capture the rain for the dry times?
Breaking ground in 2000, we were thrilled to uncover a rare grove of some historic first trees planted in the Kona District, buried beneath decades of weeds. We lovingly preserve these beauties with their huge gnarled trunks, along with untouched acres we call The Enchanted Forest... a magical place to stroll and just be.
